2022-09-21 Introducing Labii ELN & LIMS 7.0



Labii has been working miraculously to improve its usability and efficiency on our Electronic Lab Notebook (ELN) and Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS). Therefore, we've made a few changes to facilitate scientific research and make it more user-friendly.

New widget: Plasmid editor

This is a new , easy and secure widget created to assist researchers in plotting, visualizing, and documenting DNA cloning and PCR. Researchers require such tools to visualize and annotate DNA sequences, edit sequences, and simulate genetic cloning. The right tools are essential in life science research, which is why we've compiled the best platforms for genetic engineers, molecular biologists, and synthetic biologists.

Today! Plasmid editor will make it easy for researchers to visualize, edit DNA sequences and stimulate genetic cloning using the following features: Interface, Menu bar, Status, Views, Features, Enzymes, Load from a file, Search, Change bases, change features

A notification center is a center that contains messages providing the user with reminders, communication from other people, or other timely information from Labii. With Labii's notification center, you can stay informed about your Electronic Lab Notebook (ELN) and Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) activities.

With the notification center:

  1. Administrators can send company-wide messages using the notification center.

  2. Users can communicate on a particular experiment or record.

  3. Email can be scheduled for CRM users.

The Notification Center is available at Settings -> Notification. As a result of this new function, the Organization Announcement is removed and the administrators can use the Notification Center to send out the announcements. Learn more at https://docs.labii.com/eln-and-lims/notifications

Reduce learning curve with documentation

New Notes for quick note taking

Labii Electronic Lab Notebook (ELN) released the Notes feature to make it easy and accessible for researchers to document their research data in a segment of each day. The focus of research and development is usually on innovations and proof of concepts. A small set of samples is usually conducted by researchers, using different methods to accomplish this. As long as the data generated by researchers can be replicated by other researchers and meets the regulatory requirements, there are no requirements as to what should be documented as part of research and development. Scientists would prefer that such results are captured as quickly as possible with as little effort as possible. As a result, they prefer to just write down what they did on one particular day. A rich text editor with support for different file types can be well suited for their needs in this case.


We’ve also added Auto-save as a function that can save your data automatically mainly to protect customer’s unsaved data. It’s currently available in multiple widgets like CKEditor, SpreadJS.

Introducing Applications

An application is a collection of tables created in Labii for domain-specific data management. The application can be an Electronic Lab Notebook to manage experiment entries or a Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) to manage workflows. Group a set of tables using the application. Your grouped tables will be organized in the dashboard and side menu.

Updated the list view

The list view is designed to display a list of records for a table. We’ve currently redesigned it to make it user friendly. The list view is independent for each table and has the following tabs:

  • Records: Display a list of records for the table.

  • Properties: Table settings. Changes can only be made by administrators.

  • Filters: Display a list of filters for the table.

  • Columns: Display a list of columns for the table.

  • Default sections: Display a list of default sections for the table.

The list view has also been updated with search functionality enabling you to search for records that match specific keywords quickly through the table list view. Labii supports three types of searches: Search, Deep search, Advanced search.

Our list view also provides quick access buttons such as: Add, Filters, Filter by Projects, Import, Export and easy access to Tabs for quick configuration such as: Properties, Filters, Columns, Default sections.

Updated the detail view

Detail view is a function with which you can Edit/View the content of a record. We’ve also updated it, ensuring quick access buttions: Signers, Duplicate, Print, Other tabs.. as well as introducing each view from:

  • Columns, display the structure data in labels and values.

  • Sections, show a list of sections with unstructured data.

  • Notes, display an editor for quick documentation.

  • Versions, display a list of versions.

  • Activities, display a list of activities.

  • Visitors, display a list of visitors.

  • Permissions, display a list of permissions.

Updated the form view

Updated the column view

The columns view of a record shows the structure data of a record in labels and values. This view is mostly used for inventory management tables.We’ve also updated it with groups to make it easy to group the same type of data together.

In addition to adding records one by one, the bulk add form also allows you to add multiple records at once. This is to make it easy and fast and efficient for the user.
